COMPLAINTS
Our goal is to provide services to the citizens of DeKalb County courteously and professionally. In order to maintain our high professional standards the Department accepts:
- Citizen recommendations on improvements in our service delivery
- Questions or complaints about an employee’s actions or performance
There are two methods for filing a complaint. The first is to contact the employee’s immediate supervisor. This can be accomplished by driving to, or telephoning the precinct or office where they work. The supervisor will speak with you about your complaint and answer any questions that you may have. Please be mindful that police officers work various shifts and are frequently not in the office. It may be necessary for you to leave a message and have your phone call returned.
The second method is to contact the Internal Affairs Unit. Internal Affairs investigates allegations of misconduct by both sworn and non-sworn employees in the Police Department. You may submit complaints to (IA) Internal Affairs by phone, online or in person at the IA office.
